THE PAST AND PRESENT OF DURNESS
Laid Christmas Party 2002
The first Christmas Party organised by the Executive Committee of the Laid, Polla and Port-Na-Con Residents’ Associaton was held at Port-Na-Con on Monday, 23rd December. In total, 24 guests attended (including 13 members of the Residents’ Association) enjoying the seasonal treats prepared by Lesley Black. Katy and Donny provided the entertainment on their accordions and Jonathan played some tunes on his guitar. Father Christmas paid a visit as well handing out presents for everybody. The evening was enjoyed by all.
It started on a sombre note following the death of Dotty MacKay that very morning. A minute of silence was observed in respect of Dotty.
Eddie Meyer presented a gift of the Residents’ Association to Lesley Black, Port-Na-Con, a framed photograph of HMS Sutherland and a photo of both of the teams that competed for the HMS Hood Memorial Trophy in July2002.
